The Neotropical Bird Club (a UK registered charity) is pleased to announce the launch of its new magazine, ‘Neotropical Birding’, which will published annually along with two issues each year of the well-established ‘Cotinga’.

Inspired by feedback from the Club’s diverse membership, Neotropical Birding aims to publish articles of practical use for those birding in the Caribbean, South and Central America. It will provide up-to-date information on some of the best places to go birding in the Neotropics, showcase high quality photos of some of the rarer birds in the region, and contain articles on the identification of some of the more tricky species.

The first issue includes the following features:

- “Lost and found” – a review of some of the Neotropical birds which have not been seen for many years and others which have recently been rediscovered.

- “A potpourri of recently described species from the Neotropics” – a photo-rich article illustrating over 20 species which have only been discovered in the last few years including some for which there are few, if any, published photos.

- “Identification of Little Woodstar” and “Field identification of Mantled Hawk” – a review of the key features for identifying these little-known species.

- “Hato El Cedral and Zigzag Herons” – details of one of the best areas for waterbirds in South America.

- “Antpitta paradise” – information on visiting the newly-discovered site in Ecuador where Giant, Moustached and Yellow-breasted Antpittas can now regularly be seen being fed, with stunning photos of all three species.

To join the Neotropical Bird Club and receive Neotropical Birding and the two issues of Cotinga which have already been published this year costs US$40 and subscriptions can be taken out by Clicking Here

The Neotropical Bird Club is now seeking articles for potential publication in forthcoming issues of Neotropical Birding. These should be along the lines of articles in the first issue. If you have an idea of an article you would like to contribute, please contact the editor, James Lowen: neotropical.birding@neotropicalbirdclub.org
